Hiatus
I figure if I haven’t said anything in a couple weeks, I should at least do the polite thing and put this blog on hiatus.
It’s been a really busy few months, with too much going on, too much scheming and planning for the future. I’m fine, but I just don’t have much I want to say lately.
Please do keep me in a corner of your RSS reader though. I feel like I’m likely to start this up again someday. Now is just not the time.
Thanks to everyone who’s kept with me. Your eyeballs and comments have meant more to me than you know.

There was a very good reason why the sign said, “Reserved Parking.”

No, I’m not being sarcastic, for once. There is a lot going on, but it’s all in the realm of Things We Cannot Discuss On A Blog.
And if it all works out, I might have to shut this site down entirely, or at least make it private and require registration.
So the only news that’s left to pass on was that I got carded yesterday trying to order a margarita. Yeah, I’m at least 10 years past my sell-by date.

Always an Usher, Never a Groom
But I get to be an usher for my cousin, who’s getting married this June!
I met her and her fiancé for dinner this past Saturday and was surprised at how cool she turned out. (Lots of friction in the past. Don’t ask.) She also remarked how odd it was that the youngest cousin was getting married first, but hey, you take your happiness where you can get it.
(Hey, cuz, if you’re reading this, is it okay to link to your wedding site?)

The reason I haven’t written anything about the tragedy at Virginia Tech is that my sister went to Tech just a few short years ago. Lived in West Ambler-Johnston, as a matter of fact.
It’s just way too close to home. Healing thoughts and mourning to the entire Virginia Tech community.
Do You Get Hazard Pay for Blue Balls?
That’s the question I’m struggling with, as I found out last week that not only with they close my office, they may send out elsewhere in the country. Where or when, I do not know.
And of course, of course, I met a terrific, boyfriendable guy this past month, and I had to tell him the possibility that I might not even be in D.C. by the end of the year.
It’s one thing for your employer to ask you to work overtime, but it’s another quite different thing for your employer to cockblock you.
So I’m setting up a disco ball and a bowl of rum punch for a pity party, so join in the fun! Has your employment ever gotten in the way of your romantic life?
New Ears
I finally got a new hearing aid for my left year yesterday. It’s a soft earmold this time, and about half as big as the earmold for my right ear. But man, the part that goes in the ear canal feels like it could double as a marital aid!
Also, Big-Ass Insurance Co., Inc., denied me for the last two go-rounds of hearing testing. I’m having the audiologist write a letter explaining the sitch: I hadn’t had a full audiological evaluation in 25 years, and it was the audiologist’s idea to get tested on the feasibility of digital hearing aids during the same period.
What, does Big-Ass think I liked taking Fridays off to listen to annoying tones all afternoon?
